A former Hamburg resident has accepted a plea deal in the sexual assault case against him. Robert Fedder III was accused of sexually assaulting two minors in Franklin Borough after their mother placed them in his care.
On Monday, November 5 Fedder pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child in exchange for a 10 to 12 year prison sentence. The 31-year-old is a high-risk Megan's Law offender and was previously convicted of at least three sexual assaults.
According to the New Jersey Herald, Fedder fled the police lobby in March after being questioned about the assault and shortly after the police apprehended him near the Franklin Pond.
The children's mother, Teresa Nussbaum, is also facing charges of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and a drug charge that was added after police found MDMA in her possession.
