Hopatcong Man Behind Wheel of Tractor Trailer in Crash that Killed 2

A Hopatcong man was behind the wheel of a tractor trailer in a crash that killed two people on Thursday, November 8. Kyle Westenberger was driving on Route 206 North when a Nissan Pathfinder tried to make a left-hand turn from Furnace Road to Route 206 South. 

The tractor trailer hit the car killing its two passengers, 73-year-old Mariamma Thomas and a 5-year-old girl. 

The driver of the Pathfinder, Cheriyal Thomas, was flown to Morristown Medical Center and Westenberger was not seriously injured. 

The crash is currently under investigation and no charges have been filed.
