If you saw an elephant walking through Westtown, New York last night, you weren't hallucinating. Fritha the elephant managed to escape from Sanctuary For Animals on William Lain Road and decided to take a stroll through town.

New York State Police responded to the unusual call and helped escort the animal back home. A photo of Fritha walking on a road was posted to Facebook by NYS Emergency Incidents.

The Sanctuary for Animals, which is about four miles from the New York-New Jersey border, was founded by Len and Bunny Brook over 50 years ago and cares for abandoned and abused animals.
