A Newton resident was identified as the motorist that crashed into a tractor trailer on Route 80 early Saturday morning. Timothy Haines was driving his 1999 Volkswagen Jetta east in the westbound lanes of the interstate when the accident occurred.
It caused diesel fuel and debris to spill from the tractor trailer and closed all the westbound lanes of Route 80 for almost four hours. The 25-year-old was initially charged with drunk driving but is now facing further charges, including careless driving and reckless driving.
