After eight years without a winning season, Kittatinny High School won it's first state football title in program history when they defeated Newton 28-19.
Kittatinny junior running back Jacob Mafaro expressed his excitement the New Jersey Herald after Friday night's game.
“It's a great feeling, and I wouldn't want to have done it with any other guys on my football team. They're all my best friends, and I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else. This is an awesome feeling.”
After coming out ahead in the North 1, Group 2 championship game, the Kittatinny Cougars will now face the North 2, Group 2 champion, Rutherford or Lyndhurst, at MetLife Stadium.
