A Newton apartment complex was evacuated earlier this morning due to a fire which broke out on the 10th floor of Brookside Terrace Apartments at 33 Mill Street. The fire was reported around 7:17 a.m. and the building was evacuated. There were no initial injuries reported.

Newton Police Chief Michael Richards told the New Jersey Herald that "it's a working structure fire" and they were unable to say the "precise cause of origin" at the moment.

The following fire departments and EMS units reportedly responded: Newton, Andover Township, Andover Borough, Sparta, Hampton, Frankford, Branchville, Fredon, Sussex, Stillwater and Green. The Sussex County Sheriff's Office also responded.

The fire caused some road closures with Mill Street closed between Trinity/Mill/Water Street and Clinton Street.
