A New York man accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile in Sussex County is facing life in prison after declining a plea offer of 18 years in prison. Russell G. Wilson, 56, is facing charges that include aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police reportedly started investigating Wilson after he sent a letter to the parents of the girl in December of 2016. Officers were permitted to overhear and record a phone call between the girl and Wilson and during the call he admitted to the sexual assault.
His trial is expected to start in March.
