A Newton woman and New York man are facing charges after a traffic stop on Friday, December 14. Kara Grieco and Michael Collett were pulled over after officers noticed their car had inoperable tail lights and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of empty wax folds and brass knuckles.

At first the driver, Collett, identified himself to police as Kurt John Richter and when he was asked to get out of the vehicle a wax fold fell onto the pavement. Grieco was also asked to get out of the car and police noticed a bulge in the pocket of her sweatshirt. The 28-year-old had a hypodermic needle and tourniquet in her pocket and later told police they were used for heroin.

When Grieco was questioned by police she reportedly produced 37 bags of suspected heroin and other drug items.
