A man has been arrested after Newton Police Department started an investigation after a reported burglary to motor vehicle. James Blades has been charged with third-degree burglary and was released pending an upcoming court appearance.
According to the police, the investigation began after a Hampton Street resident reported a burglary to her unlocked motor vehicle on November 28. Surveillance footage showed the man, later identified as Blades, wearing a black and white coat, blue baseball cap and black backpack enter the car and later run away when a motion light turned on.
One week later another Hampton Street resident called police about a man with the same description attempting to enter a vehicle in a nearby driveway. The man once again ran off when a motion light turned on and he was seen entering the back of a Hampton Street address.
Police located and identified the 34-year-old before taking him into custody.
