A suspended Franklin Lieutenant has filed a notice of claim stating he wants to be reinstated and paid $4 million in compensation. Jeffrey Smith worked for the borough police department for almost 18 years and was suspended with pay in August. On January 3, he was suspended without pay and they allegedly intended to fire Smith.

The suspension reportedly stemmed from "obtaining CDS by fraud, a positive drug test, falsification of reports, untruthfulness, insubordination, interfering with an internal affairs investigation and conduct unbecoming of a police officer."

The 48-year-old's suit claims wrongful discharge, discrimination, breach of contract, and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
