Wantage Sanctuary Rescues Wisconsin Calf That Couldn't Walk

A Wisconsin calf that was unable to walk was saved by Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in Wantage. According to the Advertiser-News North , the calf's journey to New Jersey began when friends of sanctuary founder Mike Stura drove the animal to a nearby hospital.

After Trevor the calf was admitted, the hospital said his legs couldn't be fixed and they recommended euthanasia. Instead of giving up, Stura chose to made the 950 mile drive to Wisconsin and retrieve Trevor.

He brought the beautiful calf to Cornell Large Animal Hospital in New York where Trevor underwent surgery for his legs. It appears the surgery was successful as videos on the sanctuary's Instagram show Trevor standing and walking.

Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue is also home to Brianna, the pregnant cow that jumped off a slaughter-bound truck in December.
