According to the New Jersey Herald, the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association says Lenape Valley and Wallkill Valley regional high schools must submit incident reports after a Lenape Valley basketball player was allegedly the target of slurs.

Stephanie Dickerson said Wallkill Valley supporters made "monkey" noises at her son, Nasir, and yelled out words that included "monkey" and the "n-word" during a February 13 game. She also said that officials and school administrators did nothing to stop the derogatory statements aimed at her son.

A spokesperson for the NJSIAA told the New Jersey Herald that they have been in touch with both schools and once they receive the incident reports they "will determine if additional actions are required."

David Carr, superintendent of Wallkill Valley, reportedly said the district is taking the accusations very seriously and they're going to do a thorough investigation.
