A New York man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for sexually assaulting two Wantage girls in their home. According to the New Jersey Herald, on September 18, 2017 Craig Lassiter stole a Chevrolet Silverado in Middletown, drove through Wantage because he was "bored," and entered a random home through an open garage door.
The 35-year-old allegedly placed knives throughout the home to protect himself if he was caught and proceeded to go upstairs where the two girls were sleeping and assault them. Lassiter accepted a plea deal in October and pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual contact of minors under the age of 13 and second-degree burglary.
When he is released, Lassiter will be required to register as a Megan's Law offender and will be on parole supervision for life.
