Blairstown police responded to the township elementary school on Thursday, February 28 after a student found a live .22 caliber bullet. According to the New Jersey Herald, a sixth grader found the bullet in a bin of items that had been donated for a fundraiser.
Officers reportedly spoke to the student and determined that there was no threat. They're now stressing how important it is that parents be vigilant if they own firearms.
Blairstown Elementary School Principal Bruce Leal notified parents and said that "all procedures and protocols were followed according to our Security Plan."
