The family that alleges their son was the target of racial slurs at a Wallkill Valley basketball game plans to move forward with a civil complaint against the school district and superintendent. The news comes after the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office and Hardyston police announced there was "insufficient evidence" to file criminal charges.

According to NJ.com, the Prosecutor's Office and Hardyston police reviewed multiple video and audiotape recordings from the game as part of their investigation. They also interviewed parents and students from both schools.

Eric Warner, the attorney for the Dickerson family, said that the "video speaks for itself." He told NJ.com:

“We also maintain that several interviews the prosecutor’s office conducted seemed to have been with people in attendance who could be expected to have an interest in denying the allegations."

An investigation of the alleged incident by the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association is still ongoing.
