Jury selection starts today for the trial of a Morris County doctor that allegedly punched a 12-year-old at Mountain Creek in 2016. According to the New Jersey Herald, Samuel Caruthers' trial has been delayed for years due to motions filed by his attorney, George Daggett.
On February 14, 2016 Caruthers and his son were skiing in Vernon when the 12-year-old victim in the case "accidentally" skied into Caruthers. The 47-year-old father allegedly "stabbed" the 12-year-old with his ski pole and punched him in the face.
Caruthers was indicted on charges that include aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. If convicted he could spend up to 22 years in prison.
