The officer in charge of the Hamburg Borough Police Department is accused of claiming unworked hours and stealing electronics from the department. According to the New Jersey Herald, George Gunderman was taken into custody on a complaint warrant on Monday while in uniform.

The 41-year-old is facing charges that include second-degree misconduct and third-degree theft of items valued between $500 and $75,000. Gunderman allegedly gave himself 12 hours of compensation time for a training course that he didn't attend and allowed other officers to use compensation time to work outside employment.

Gunderman's attorney reportedly said his client is innocent and he is focusing on getting him released from custody.
