Sparta Officer Helped Lake Mohawk Man Escape from Burning Home

A Sparta police officer helped a Lake Mohawk resident escape from his burning home. According to the New Jersey Herald, the fire was reported to the Sparta Fire Department just before 11 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, with possible entrapment.

Taylor May was the first officer on the scene, located the man who was trying to get out of the house and helped him get to safety. Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control within minutes.

Agencies that assisted at the scene included Andover Township Fire Department, Ogdensburg Fire Department, Sparta Fire Prevention, Sparta Ambulance Squad, Sparta Police and the Sparta Police Detective Bureau.
