A Budd Lake man was charged with driving while intoxicated after allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road backwards. According to the New Jersey Herald, Jason Rice was arrested on Saturday, March 23 after a Sparta police officer observed a white Chevrolet Silverado driving in reverse on the wrong side of Stanhope Road.
After stopping the vehicle, the officer reportedly determined that Rice had been consuming alcoholic beverages. The 46-year-old was arrested, processed at Sparta police headquarters and released to a sober adult.
In addition to the DWI charge, Rice is also facing charges of improper backing and careless driving.
