A Jefferson Township woman has been arrested in connection to the death of a 10-week-old golden retriever in West Milford. According to the West Milford Police Department, Tonya Fea is charged with defiant trespass, a petty disorderly persons offense and two counts of third-degree animal cruelty.
The puppy was found inside a crate near the edge of Greenwood Pond on Tuesday, April 30, by a rescue officer with The Last Resort Rescue. The dog was reportedly "soaked" and "ice cold" with vegetation hanging on the crate. A $22 crystal vase was also found inside the cage.
The 47-year-old is reportedly scheduled to appear at Central Judicial Processing on May 22.
