State Police Resume Search for Body of Man that Fell in Lake Hopatcong

This morning State Police dive teams resumed efforts to recover the body of a man who fell into Lake Hopatcong and never resurfaced. According to the New Jersey Herald, the unidentified man got into the water yesterday then went under after appearing to be in distress.

The New Jersey State Police Marine and Technical Emergency and Mission Specialists (T.E.A.M.S.) units were reportedly called in at 10:51 a.m. to assist with the underwater search and the Jefferson Township Fire Department also assisted with their fireboat.

The search was halted once darkness fell on Saturday.

At this time it’s unknown if the man was on a boat, a dock, or at the edge of the water and if he was wearing a life vest.
