Vernon Police Release Body Cam Footage of Officer Who Shot Dog

The Vernon Township Police Department has released body cam footage of the police officer that shot a Labrador Retriever in Scenic Lakes on Saturday. The two minute clip shows the officer, previously identified as Ptl. Rivera, talking to a man about the dog then walking to a neighbor's house. After the neighbor identifies the dog owner's home, Ptl. Rivera walks toward that house and encounters the dog on the street.

The video cuts off at the sound of a gunshot. According to the police department, the footage in its entirety is being withheld "due to privacy concerns" and the incident is currently under investigation. See the video below.
