NJ State Police: Missing Man Identified, Body Recovered from Lake Hopatcong

New Jersey State Police have recovered the body of a 24-year-old man that went missing in Lake Hopatcong on Saturday, August 3. According to a New Jersey State Police press release, Jason Gill's body was found this morning near the search area by a boater and was taken into possession by the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Mount Arlington resident was reported missing after he fell off a pontoon boat and submerged without resurfacing near Main Lake Market.

The New Jersey State Police Marine Services Bureau spent part of Saturday and all day Sunday searching for him and were assisted by State Police Aviation and T.E.A.M.S. Units as well as Jefferson Fire Department.

During the investigation troopers reportedly discovered that the operator of the boat, Nicholas Zarantonello, of Lake Hopatcong, was reportedly under the influence at the time of the incident. He was charged with boating under the influence and released pending a future court date.
