Energy companies are recommending people keep their home's thermostat at 85 degrees when away or at work to keep energy bills low. Energy Star, a U.S. Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency program, also recommends keeping your thermostat at 78 degrees when you're home and 82 degrees while you're sleeping.
I don't know about you, but I think 78 degrees is way too hot and I could never fall asleep in an 82 degree room. I'd rather pay more to keep cool. In the winter our thermostat hovers around 68 degrees and in the summer we have our air conditioners on constantly.
