A teenager from Franklin was arrested around 6 p.m. on Monday, October 21 for cyber harassment against a female elementary student. According to the Sussex Daily Voice, the unidentified boy made "harassing and disparaging remarks encouraging suicide" in response to the girl's suicide prevention post online.
Police Chief Gregory M. Cugliari told the publication that the arrest stems from an October 18 complaint of cyber harassment. An investigation reportedly found that the teen sent the girl an offensive picture he got online which depicted a male pointing a firearm at himself.
The boy has been released pending a first appearance in Sussex County Superior Court, Family/Juvenile division.
