Police Investigating Jefferson Dump Truck Crash that Left One Dead

Police are investigating a dump truck crash on Route 15 north in Jefferson that killed a 70-year-old man. According to the New Jersey Herald, Gilberto Salazar was driving a dump truck shortly after 2pm on Halloween when it overturned.

The Ledgewood resident was trapped inside the truck and had to be extricated. Salazar was transported to St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover where he was pronounced dead.

The following departments responded to assist with the accident and cleanup of fuel spilled on the roadway: Morris County Hazmat, Jefferson Township Fire Department Co. 2, Jefferson Township Rescue Squad, Picatinny Arsenal Fire Department and the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
