This morning New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced that starting at 8 p.m. tonight March 16th all restaurants and bars must shut down their dine-in service until further notice. While this move may help curb the spread of coronavirus it also limits big and small businesses to take-out and delivery service only. Local restaurants are going to take a big hit but there are a few things you can do to help.

  1. Order takeout tonight. Call a local restaurant and place an order. If you aren't comfortable going in to pick it up, you can ask them to bring it out to your car or you can have it delivered.
  2. Buy restaurant gift certificates. You can't eat at your favorite restaurant right now but buying a gift certificate will give the restaurant money upfront and once restrictions are lifted you can go out for a nice meal.
  3. Leave a larger than normal tip. Whether it's for the delivery driver or given at the counter, a couple extra bucks can go a long way.
  4. Spread the word on social media. If your favorite restaurant is promoting a special offer during this time, share it on social media and help them get the word out.

This is a tough time for a lot of people so let's go out of our way to keep our local restaurants going!
