No New COVID-19 Cases in Sussex County Today March 23; Total Still at 15

No new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Sussex County today, March 23. The county total remains at 15. According to a press release from Sussex County Freeholder Director Sylvia Petillo and the Sussex County Department of Health and Human Services the ages and genders of those 15 cases are as follows:

  • 25-year-old female in Andover
  • 36-year-old male in Byram
  • 34-year-old female in Frankford
  • 78-year-old male in Frankford
  • 52-year-old male in Hampton
  • 65-year-old female in Hardyston
  • 63-year-old male in Hopatcong Borough
  • 47-year-old male in Hopatcong Borough
  • 60-year-old male in Sparta
  • 76-year-old female in Sparta
  • 82-year-old male in Sparta
  • 61-year-old male in Sparta
  • 47-year-old female in Sparta
  • 93-year-old female in Newton
  • 53-year-old male in Vernon

The SCDOH is currently working to identify individuals who came into contact with these residents. Anyone identified as a close contact, per New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) guidelines, is directed to self-quarantine and is being monitored by the SCDOH.

All residents are encouraged to continue monitoring their health and exercise good hygiene habits. The SCDOH recommends taking the following actions to help prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illnesses like COVID-19:

  • Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Avoid close contact with sick people.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Practice social distancing to reduce the spread of germs.
  • Families and individuals should create or update their family emergency plans.
