My Epic Weekend In Pictures: Surviving Rafting!

Wow. This Labor Day Weekend was definitely Epic. So many wonderful memories with amazing friends. Since I posted too many fun pictures I won't be writing as long in this one because we need to get it posted in time for my daily 8:45 feature with Steve Andrews. Here we go!

Friday was a huge milestone day for me. When I pinched the nerve in my right hip / caboose, there were so many things last summer I couldn't do. I couldn't do my fun Minerals Sports Club workout videos, I couldn't even swing a golf club. Friday I was able to see my friends with Tee It Up For The Troops. Tee It Up For The Troops is one of my absolute favorite days all year. It's always at gorgeous Crystal Springs Wild Turkey Golf Course, and the American Flags at every tee always get my blood pumping. The weather was fantastic. On our very first hole, I was extremely nervous. It took me probably five minutes to swing the golf club I was so scared that my hip was going to fall apart on me. I missed the ball a couple times and almost got stage fright. When I finally did hit it, it wasn't a good drive at all. I didn't even care. I was just so happy that I actually made the shot and my hip was okay. Huge milestone success! We then had a wonderful afternoon golfing with Shawn, Stacey and Jim. Each one of us had a few terrific shots! Most of mine were awful, but it's those few good ones that keep you wanting more and more golf. It's so funny when it works out that way.

My friend Michael Guidice does a fantastic job putting together Tee It Up For The Troops. Friday night he told me the story about why he runs it, simply because he was disgusted by other charities that only give a small percentage of what they raise to the troops. He is very proud to get more money to the troops. He and his wife Rosemarie are absolute sweethearts. They were so sweet to give me a shout out and thank you during the dinner presentation, both for my Adopt A Pet Of The Week I do every Thursday at 3:45pm on 102.3 WSUS, and for Salute A Soldier that Borasio does every morning on 103.7 NNJ. We had a fantastic day golfing, and Teeing It Up For The Troops.

Friday night I had to skip dinner due to a prior commitment. My big commitment? My annual Fantasy Football draft with my bros from home up in Boston. I was able to get home back in Vernon just in time to be able to draft my Radioboyz Fantasy Football Team. I picked 8th overall in our 10 person league. Considering where I picked, I'm okay with how my team came out. I'm not thrilled with my team, I think my team last year was actually much better, but I was able to bring some of them back at least. One draft done, my next one is the coming week woohoo.

Saturday morning let the Epic Adventures continue! My first time rafting! We went rafting with Reber River Trips up in Barryville, New York. We swung by Hawk's Nest on our way up and were so impressed. I felt awful that I've been here 6 and a half years, yet never made the trek over to Hawk's Nest. We loved those beautiful views for a few minutes, then continued our trek up to Barryville.

Wow. Our group of friends know how to do it! My first time rafting was a huge success. We were slightly nervous about me rafting considering that I don't know how to swim. #WhatCanPossiblyGoWrong, right? No, I didn't flip over. Awesome Girlfriend Megan only accidentally hit me in the head with a paddle once, so we will put that in the win column. We were out there for probably 4 hours or so enjoying the gorgeous weather. At times the current in the Delaware Water Gap is strong enough where you don't even really have to paddle, just paddle slightly to keep your raft facing straight if you wish. We had a phenomenal time rafting with our friends. Between Sally + Douglioso, Georgia + Robert, Edward, Mercedes Steve, Kathy, Patrick + Liz, Floyd + Maegann. I'm probably not even close to naming everyone my bad. We were always socially distanced on our rafts and had an amazing time.

Saturday night, time for victory drinks at Moonshine Tiki Bar in Vernon. We had a great time laughing with everyone and showing them the stunningly beautiful pictures and videos we were able to take while rafting.

I beat the odds by surviving and we will take it!

Sunday I had a great time at Crystal Springs Vista Pool with some of our besties. Fun times in a wonderful atmosphere. I always say Crystal Springs Vista Pool is our absolute favorite place to be, and that it's heaven on Earth.

Monday, I was able to return to that same Crystal Springs Vista Pool. I ran into my friend Gary Larson, who's working with Crystal Springs. He said "Steve Allan, I want your life!" This weekend definitely had some wonderful memories. Yes, I was called into work once Monday morning, but I was able to fix the minor issues all in under a half hour. Not too bad at all.

Monday afternoon we had a BEAR encounter, Mama bear with 4 cubs. Definitely majestic on Campus, that's for sure!

Overall we had an amazing weekend that we will never forget. I hope you had a terrific weekend too. Thank you so much for taking the time to read through my Epic Weekend In Pictures. Time to start planning next weekend!
