Many people, myself included, have been lead to believe lower income people eat the most fast food. Mainly because the food is pretty cheap. However, a new study published in the daily news points to another reason: Lack of time.
The study show 85 percent of people and families that fell in the middle income bracket at fast food once a week. 80 Percent of lower income people and families ate at fast food establishments once a week. Even higher income families and people at fast food once a week 75 percent of the time.
So the study's conclusion was convenience was the real reason fast food continues to be so popular even if it's not that good for us. This does make sense to me. I never plan ahead to stop at a fast food restaurant, but when I'm behind schedule or having a long day that's where I go.
One more thing. Fast food places do offer healthy choices these days so you can have convenience and still eat good if you want to. What's tough for me is thinking about healthy eating when I can't take my eyes off all those fantastic looking burger and fry combos staring me in the face when I'm ordering.
