One summer when I was on vacation in Wildwood I got so engrossed in a book my friends actually stopped talking with me for a day or two. The book was Steven King's "The Stand" which is over 600 pages. I just couldn't put it down. So while my friends were having fun on the boardwalk I just sat on our deck listening to the ocean waves and reading. I wasn't being anti-social. It was just a great book.
This summer "Refinery 29" recommends two books that will be perfect reads when you head to the beach.
Ann Kidd Taylor's "Shark Club" which is set in Florida. The story of a woman forced to spend the summer with her ex-lover and his son. The story gets pretty complicated from there but you will enjoy it.
Francesca Segal's "Awkward Age" Centers around a widow who moves in with her new boyfriend. She has a daughter, he has a son. There's plenty of drama from there.
