Kids these days are much harder to keep "happy" on vacation than I was. At least it seems that way. When my kids were growing up our vacations weren't that long so I didn't have the problems some parents deal with these days.
Booking.com asked 18 thousand parents for tips on what they do to keep kids from getting cranky during the first 24 hours of their vacation. Here are some of the things they suggested.
1. Pack emergency snacks
2. Cover kids in bug spray
3. Bring familiar comforts so kids feel at home
4. Pack key items like swim suits separately or on top in the suitcase.
5. Pack their adapters and chargers on top in the suitcase
6. Enroll kids into an activity club before you arrive
I like the way my dad handled my crankiness better. He would say "we can always go home." It worked every time.
