The first concert I ever went to on my 12th birthday was Glen Campbell at the Garden State Arts Center. "Galveston" was one of the first singles I ever bought with my $1.00 allowance. Growing up listening to the radio in the 1960's his songs were all over the radio on country and top 40 stations. As I got older I would listen to songs like "Gentle on My Mind" and "By the Time I get to Phoenix" and appreciate the words he was singing and the feeling he put into those great songs. Then there was "Rhinestone Cowboy." Number one for several weeks on the top 40 and country charts. Like most of us, he made his share of mistakes and didn't always have an easy life. A local TV Station where in died in Nashville aired this report last night.
