A study from the University of Herfordshire in Great Britain looked at 1700 gluten free foods found in supermarkets. It turns out these foods are not as healthy as we thought. They have more fat, sugar and salt than products that contain gluten. They're also lower in fiber and protein. The only exception was gluten free crackers.
The study concludes gluten free foods won't help you loose weight or get healthier. You'll also be wasting a lot of money because gluten free foods are almost double the cost. Of course, some people with Celiac Disease have to eat gluten free because of an intolerance to wheat products. This study does not change anything for them.
Let's not forget most gluten free foods taste pretty bad too. So now you can skip the gluten free aisle and feel good about it!
