My daughter and grand daughter were visiting this weekend. It seemed like I was 10 minutes behind all weekend. I'm just not used to scheduling my time around little kids anymore. This weekend was a reminder of just how unpredictable a 2 year old can be. That being said, having Miss Gracie in my life is a great joy and a lot of fun.
My weekend began at our I Heart Media Opioid Epidemic Town Hall meeting in our live performance studio. It was great to see so much of the community come together with experts and community leaders to work together on this problem. After watching and listening I believe we have some very good people working together to provide help and hope.
Then it was a whirlwind of fun with Miss Gracie. Mommy, Grandpa (me), Uncle Dave and cousin Shyann went took Miss Gracie to Have a Hoot in Milford. We had a great time. It was fun watching my daughter run after Gracie for 2 hours!
On Sunday grandpa (me) did something he hasn't done in years. I made pancakes. Gracie's favorite breakfast. Funny thing is, she won't eat pancakes with syrup. Then Mommy, Uncle Matt and Grandpa took Miss Gracie to Build a Bear in Middletown. Uncle Matt saw first hand what too much stimulation does to a little kid. She wanted everything. We had a "terrible two" episode or two. Eventually, Gracie picked Marshall as her favorite, we picked accessories and were on our way after paying $57.00. Expensive for a stuffed animal but I kept telling myself: "for Millennials is all about the experience!"
When we got home I spent the rest of the afternoon doing another thing I haven't done in over a year. Making my home made chicken parm. Hours of work but it was all worth it when my son James came home from work and said the sight of me making chicken parm made him happy. As you can see, it got a little scorched but it was still delicious!
