It was only a matter of time. Those curly hairstyles of the 80's are making a comeback! A New York Post article quotes stylist Arsen Gurgov who says now it's "All about texture" and the only way to make that happen is with a perm. He says he has seen more and more requests for perms over the last few months as they become more popular.
In Los Angles stylist for the stars Mara Roszak has done several perms at her salon including one for Emma Stone. She even showed off the look on Instagram.
These days there are more rod sizes for more natural looking curls and formulas are gentler. However, some things have not changed. You still have to sit under a heater for several hours and it still takes a few days for everything to settle. So you can't get your hair wet.
Back in the late 70's and early 80's I didn't need a perm and all the girls said they wished they had my hair. Take a look at me when I was about 16 below.
