My daughter has been under a lot of stress lately so I decided to head to Long Island for a visit. My hope was we could relax at the indoor pool at the hotel, have a nice dinner and a leisurely breakfast.
When I arrived on Friday Night it made me so happy to see my grand daughter Gracie's reaction to me when I walked into the living room. She was over joyed. Facetime is nice but there is no substitute for being there. The fun we had at my daughter's house were drawing together and playing ball. It was great.
I booked a room at a nice hotel with an indoor pool for the weekend. It was a good deal and we had a blast in the pool and hot tub. It didn't snow much on Long Island Saturday Night. The Sunday morning breakfast at the hotel was very nice. It was wonderful to just sit with my daughter and see her relax.
My only disappointment was our Saturday night dinner. Kim and her boyfriend decided they wanted to go to a certain chain restaurant because they had points to use in the restaurant's rewards program. The hope was for one of our meals to be free. My burger was OK and I really had a nice time until the check came. The restaurant gave my daughter a hard time about using her rewards points. It was totally unacceptable to me but my daughter and her boyfriend decided to just pay because they didn't want to make a scene.
On the way home I explained my logic. They had to spend plenty of their money to earn that reward. Every successful business shows appreciation to loyal customers in some way. Customers using rewards points should always be thanked and never given a hard time. I'm not going to say the name of the restaurant but it has the same name as a day of the week.
