I was one of the lucky people who did not loose power this weekend. Many people who work in or near Matamoras, Pennsylvania where stranded Friday Night because I-84 was closed for almost 20 hours. Then power went out all around Matamoras in Dingman's Ferry, Mill Rift and Shohola. Our two local hotels booked up fast. One of my friends who works at the local Price Chopper was an unexpected over night guest on Friday Night. She found our family room very comfortable and we were happy to help. I helped another friend by putting up his bread delivery at the store on Saturday because he couldn't get out of his community. In Matamoras about a foot of snow fell on my deck. I heard Shohola got almost 2 feet!
The rest of Saturday was a very enjoyable trip to the Galleria Mall with my stepson and his daughter. She loves Japanese Food so we had an early dinner at the Hibachi Steakhouse. My picture came out pretty good and I must have been very hungry because I ate everything. Yum Yum sauce is amazing!
On Sunday there was a small victory. K-Mart finally got in red candle sticks. Last month I polished my mom's antique silver candle holders and needed red candles to match my living room carpet. My Hall of Fame Award and mom's old silver tea set are also in the fireplace mantle. I was going to throw the mantle out. Now I'm really happy I kept it.
My church youth group asked me to invite all kids to their next youth group meeting this Friday Night. It's at the United Methodist Church of Matamoras. I volunteer for the youth group. It would be great to have more kids come and enjoy the fellowship and fun. There's more info on the flyer picture.
Finally, one of Port Jervis, New York's favorite places to eat opened for the season this weekend. Both of my son's have worked at the Riverside Creamery for years. In spite of the snow plenty of people came out for the nostalgic atmosphere, wonderful food and sweet treats. I've been friend with owners Jim and Jeff for years. The Sundae in the picture is just the tip of the iceberg. Stop in and enjoy.
