Franklin Pond to reopen June 30th

When I first started to work at WSUS in 1983 the Franklin Pond was open. I thought it was so cool that a town had it's own beach for families to enjoy. I have great memories of live broadcasts from the Franklin Carnival. WSUS radio personalities took turns hosting the Miss Franklin and Little Mr and Miss Franklin contests.  Where I grew up in Hudson County there was nothing like this. At the time my dream was to be a radio show host in New York City. In the meantime, I loved the community I was working in.

The Franklin Pond has been closed for the last several years because Canadian Geese had polluted the water with their droppings After taking action to keep the geese away the water is much cleaner. Which cleared the way for the Franklin Borough Council to approve re-opening the beach at the Franklin Pond.

A local paddle board company will operate the beach while offering paddle board and kayak lessons. Yoga classes will be available too. I love a good comeback story.
