I usually don't write posts about what type of food is being honored on a particular day but today I am making an exception. Grilled cheese is the first food I remember eating. My mom used to make it using aluminum foil in a frying pan. When I got a little older my step mom showed me how they made grilled cheese in diners. Grilling the cheese sandwich in butter. I remember saying to her: "So that's why grilled cheese is better when we eat out."
A new poll done by Boar's Head finds that 87 percent of Americans would rather give up coffee, chocolate or alcohol than give up cheese. Americans love cheese so much 60 percent of us can name at least 5 kinds of cheese. Almost half of the 25 to 34 year olds in the survey said cheese is their favorite food. Almost two thirds of respondents said they would move if cheese was banned where they live.
My cheese of choice is American. Grilled Cheese, bacon and tomato sandwiches are my all time favorite. I like cheddar to cook with and mozzarella on my Italian food. If the cheese smells bad I won't eat it. Real sliced deli American Cheese is the best. That's my number one weakness. I have high cholesterol but I've found it very difficult to cut back. Well, you only live once!
