My daughter is moving back home this week with her boyfriend and Gracie. So this weekend I took advantage of having the weekend off to help them. It was also a beautiful day to go to the park with Miss Gracie. Her favorite park is Heckscher Park. I loved it too. It's really just a pond with a walkway around it and a nice playground. What's cool is the little decks you can walk out onto. There are swans, geese, big snapping turtles and some pretty big fish. The wildlife swims right along side the decks. I saw a snapping turtle the size of a garbage can lid. I hope we find a park she enjoys this much near Matamoras. I left Long Island with my Jeep filled with boxes.
The rest of the weekend was all about getting things at my house ready for summer. Every year my goal is to have the pool up and running by Memorial Day. I always allow time for glitches and problems. This year there were none. My son and I got the cover off and only a few drops of dirty water got in the pool. So the water was crystal clear. When we hooked up the filter there were no drips and the pressure was fine. To a pool owner nothing sounds nicer than the flow of clean water from a smooth running filter.
Things went so well with my pool set up I had extra time to start the next big project. Re-staining my outside decks. Once it got sunny Memorial Day afternoon I scrubbed and stained the front porch deck. One down two more to go.
