So far I know of only one dentist doing this but it's a good idea. Dr Larry Winans a dentist in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania brought his two English Cream retrievers into his office for his patients to interact with before going into the treatment room.
Then a young patient asked if the dogs could actually go into the treatment room with him. Dr. Winans said "sure." Now it's become a pretty routine thing.
Bella and Barley are trained to stay out of Dr. Winans way and just hang out. So far the idea is very popular and patients appreciate them. Just another reason to love dogs. However, I must admit my dog Maddie probably wouldn't be a good "Dental Dog." She would want to play with everyone who came in.
