First of all I know it's bear week but I did not have any bear encounters. Sorry Steve Allan. The closest thing I had to a wild life adventure came Saturday morning when I gave Maddie a bath. Hopefully, the bath will make her more comfortable when she is outside during this heatwave. Surprisingly, she was pretty calm. Saturday was also the day after my birthday. My son Matt brought home a rich chocolate Oreo cake to celebrate. I got only 1 slice. It was gone pretty fast.
On Sunday I started to stain my pool deck but it was just too hot. So I went to the supermarket and found some wonderful boneless sirloin on sale. Steve Allan grilled me a delicious steak on Friday for my birthday and that inspired me to fire up my real grill. The steaks came out fantastic. I sent Steve Allan a picture of the steaks I grilled and he thought it was chicken! I guess he doesn't know what grill marks made on a real grill look like.
On Monday and Tuesday I finished staining the pool deck and enjoyed some awesome pool time with Gracie. The water was pretty warm so it was easy to stay in the pool for several hours. Staining the pool deck was quite an accomplishment too. It was very hot and staining anything that large is very tedious.
On July 4th Kim, Gracie and I went to a Fourth of July barbecue in Dingman's Ferry. We had a very nice time. My daughter always dresses Gracie for the occasion. She was adorable in her red, white and blue dress. Of course, the white pants got dirty pretty fast when she was playing with the other little kids at the barbecue.
It was nice to take some much needed time off. I hope all of you had a wonderful July 4th too.
