Fairy Tale Forrest in Oak Ridge is re-opening

This is really wonderful. Christine Vander Ploeg is the grand daughter of Paul Woehle. Paul and his sons built all the structures at Fairy Tale Forrest in the mid 1950's. The park opened in 1957. The buildings and characters are based on Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales. Woehle hand carved or used cement to create the buildings and figures in the park.

The renovation will include an upscale restaurant called "Fables." One of the most iconic structures at Fairy Tale Forrest is a massive wooden shoe. The park was open for more than 50 years but closed in 2005.

The structures and sculptures in Fairy Tale Forrest are true works of art that have survived since the 1950's. A tribute to how well they were designed and built. The renovations look wonderful. I hope the restaurant and park are a big success!
