Benny is a Labrador Retriever rescued from a shelter in Las Vegas. His owner Sheryl Dan Sango started taking him to hockey practice after she rescued him. She is a hockey coach. Benny enjoyed coming to the rink so Cheryl made him his own customized dog ice skates.
What makes this a great story is the fact the Benny was almost euthanized at the shelter when he was a puppy. Sheryl rescued him just in time. He wears his custom skates on his front paws and uses his back paws for traction. He plays hockey and does cool tricks.
I guess I posted this story because Benny reminds me of the beautiful Lab I rescued from the Wantage Animal Shelter almost 20 years ago. Rusty was already 3 or 4 years old and no one wanted him. We had him for almost 10 years. He was very smart, gentle, protective and loved my kids.
I will always have a dog in my life because of Rusty.
Here's a You Tube video of Benny and an old picture of Rusty with my son James.
