I think I finally figured out why God gave us grand kids. It's to make sure grand parents keep having fun even after our kids have grown up. Over the past few months I've taken Gracie to Bethel Woods, Mountain Creek, Space Farms, The New Jersey State Fair, The Franklin Carnival, Apple Picking at Penning's Orchard and Heaven Hill Farms Great Pumpkin Festival.
When we woke up Sunday Morning I wasn't sure about going to Heaven Hill Farm but I'm glad we did. It was great to see so many families having so much fun. I haven't been to the Great Pumpkin Festival since my kids were little. I was really impressed with how it's grown and all there is to do. I've know Martin from Heaven Hill Farm for almost 30 years. He has done a wonderful job combining so much fun for families and kids in one place every fall.
Gracie loved all of it. Climbing on the hay bales, the live chickens, the pumpkin patch, the corn stalk maze and the carnival rides. Kim and I got hungry chasing after Gracie all afternoon so we grabbed a bite to eat and purchased Gracie's pumpkin before we left. It was a great day.
Two other awesome things happened this weekend. After several weeks of training my son James passed his final tests and received his badge. He is now a Pike County Corrections Officer. I am very proud of him and very proud to be a law enforcement family. James graduated from Sussex County Community College's Criminal Justice Program last May. He wasted no time putting his degree to work.
The other awesome event this weekend was my beef stew. I put everything in the slow cooker Saturday Afternoon and we have been enjoying it ever since. My beef stew really hit the spot after chasing Miss Gracie around the Great Pumpkin Festival yesterday. By the way, you know it's really great beef stew when it tastes even better the second day!
