This might not be a "Miracle on the Hudson" but what these pilots did was pretty amazing. I'm not sure now many passengers were on this plane or if it was mostly cargo. If I was on a plane full of passengers and there were nasty crosswinds landing at another airport wouldn't bother me. That's a better option than crashing but maybe the crew had no choice. I wonder if the type of aircraft had anything to do with it. Boeing 757's are nice planes to fly in. Much better than 737's which I always seem to wind up on when I fly.
TUI is a British Charter Airline. This landing happened at Bristol Airport on October 12th during intense winds. I guess this is something pilots train to do. The way you land a jet in a wind storm is to point the nose of the plane directly into the wind. This flight crew executed the landing perfectly. Take a look.
