My weekend actually began Friday Night at Franklin Sussex Auto Mall's annual Halloween Party and Costume Contest. I think my late 70's Steve Andrews costume was a hit. Especially my creepy microphone. However, I was disappointed when everyone still recognized me. This year's costumes were the best ever. The grand prize winning costume was a Monopoly Game. The winners will be going to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.
I was up early Saturday for the fall open house at Sussex County Community College. We thought the rain was going to keep attendance down but the turn out was great. I was so busy at our table and doing live radio interviews with students I forgot to take pictures. This past week on the air I told people to come over and say "hello" if you were going to the open house. Many of you did. Thank You!
Saturday afternoon I went to Skylands Ice World to watch my cousin Tara's son play hockey. I had a great time. Chase plays in the league for 13 and 14 year old kids. Most of his team mates are from Vernon and Sparta. The level of play and the skills they have is fantastic for their age. I predict there will be an NHL Player from Sussex County one day in the not too distant future. After the game Tara's husband Jon reminded me that I had to take a selfie for my weekend in 5 pictures. Thank you Jon.
After my action packed Saturday I took it easy on Sunday. After Church I went to the soon to be closed Matamoras K-Mart. It made me so sad to see the "store closing." sign. Everything was 10 to 30 percent off. The store was packed. Where were all these people before? It's a shame this store didn't get that kind of community support in the past. If it did maybe it wouldn't be closing. While Amazon makes one man a multi billionaire people in our community loose jobs. In the long run that's not good for anyone.
