The New Jersey Policeman's Benevolent Association has filed for a restraining order to block Governor Murphy's vaccine mandate for corrections officers in state and county facilities. The executive order was signed by the governor last month. The governor says it is justified because prisons and hospitals are high risk environments for the spread of COVID. Officers who are not fully vaccinated (including the booster shot) will face possible termination. The order also specifies weekly testing is not an option for officers who choose to not get vaccinated. A panel of state judges will have to decide if the mandate is over reach and un-constitutional. The New Jersey PBA is the state's largest police union with more than 33,000 members.
