I love to buy food when it's on sale. Then put what we don't plan to eat right away in the freezer. The first thing that comes to mind for me is meat. I've saved a lot of money over the years. Food Network just did a post that lists many other foods that freeze well. Some of them even surprised me. So here they are:
Salmon-use a vacuum sealed bag
Buttermilk-freeze it in ice cube trays then transfer the cubes to freezer bags
Egg Whites-but they won't be as fluffy as fresh
Whole Milk-for up to 3 months
Lunch Meats, Nuts, Bread, Grains(quinoa, bulgur and farro) Tofu and Tortillas.
